It's not weird if you don't make it weird. But suit yourselves.
And it's not a matter if difficulty @Miguel, it's a matter of being able to not have a skip in the schedule, but still being able to enjoy sleeping outside. I did it all the time by the mountains near where I grew up.
Also sandy blows. The only good actual site within 30mi is Milo. We can do that too sometime.
Don't be snobs. Was just extending an invite to what I know would be a nice time.

5 miles out of sandy is national forest

Is it even legal to camp in forest park?

    nope
"Forest Park is a city park, therefore no fires, camping, fireworks or firearms are permitted."

"Hours: Forest Park is open to the public from 5:00 am until 10:00 pm every day."

The fires/fireworks/firearms I understand, but goddamn. Using a stove to make coffee during the wet months is hardly the same as having an open fire during the dry months. People "camp" in front of stores, all over the sidewalks, and just about anywhere else every day/night in Portland. Wgaf about camping in a huge park as long as they are respecting their surroundings and packing out what they packed in. I would be willing to bet that all of us have used a park after hours at some point, or many points, in our lives.
  • bicyclefunkbicyclefunk Riding Level: 723
    Exactly, thanks.
It's how I camped for my last tour because there are either no sites on the east coast or they are $30 a site glamp grounds. Not a single fire (not that I wanted one).
All you need to camp is a sleeping bag. Or maybe not even that. If you pass out in the woods overnight, is it camping?

I guess I'm not sure what camping actually is.

I'm just going for a nap, probably feel like a coffee when I wake up.

Since when is camping illegally been a problem as of lately. We can spray paint our bikes and fit right in

Camping in Forest Park would also suck because of the morning running and hiking traffic. Heading out toward Sandy or even going to Stub Stewart is way nicer and not far.

  • MiguelMiguel Riding Level: 2,331
    Or Gifford Pinchot
  • tvcbtvcb Riding Level: 1,388
    Or springwater corridor
  • MiguelMiguel Riding Level: 2,331
    or laurelhurst park

    Fuck it, I'm staying home.
  • MiguelMiguel Riding Level: 2,331

quite the opposite, seeing as how tvcb came through with the nocs, and I got some great train watching in from the bluffs this afternoon.

as for my nap, it's still on, though prob not this weekend unless my rain cape arrives before then ;-)
yes, I purchased a rain cape.
